Hi All, I am 35 yo, not working in Bali just studying on my own, I am on a British passport, a tourist visa granted at the Indonesian embassy London, which allows me 60 day stay in Bali, runs out in 40 days time. I am planning to stay 100-120 days and am looking for the easiest solution to enable me to stay for that period. As I need more that just an additional 30 days, nipping out and back in on a tourist VOA will not be enough for me. Any advice from you seasoned x-pats on how best to manage this? Thanks in advance.

Hi crazyasia...welcome to Bali and the forum. Here are some options..I assume you have a 211 visa issued as a Tourist Visa in London and valid 60 days. I have read of some people that HAVE managed to have that extended, particularly in Bali, as it has the same number as a Social Budaya (Sosbud) visa, which is extendable monthly up to approx 6 months. Worth a try maybe 21 days prior to its expiration. If you leave for Singapore/KL, and return even same day, you can stand in line for a Visa on Arrival (VOA), it costs US$35 for 30 days. This can be extended in Bali for another 30 days and another US$35.If you can find an Indonesian to sponsor you for a Sosbud you can go to Singapore/KL, or anywhere else where there is an RI Embassy/Consul, and submit that for a 60 day visa extendable monthly up to 6 months. Follow markit's advice on how to do that as it isn't difficult. If you cannot find someone, any agent will do it for a fat fee!!!

Thanks Davita and Markit, v helpful indeed.Yes it is marked as a '211/60 days' visa, with no explicit mention of 'tourist' or 'sosbud/social' seemingly marked on the visa. So I will try simply to get it extended in Bali before I arrange to go abroad. What is the process of extending it from within Bali can you tell me?

It seems fairly easy to extend 211 tourist into social visa. I have already done it twice. Once with local who knew someone at immigrassi. This time through a registered agent.

I've only extended Sosbuds and that was in Jakarta. Maybe others can help with specific information.

The 211 visa is the code for a 60 day tourist visa and also for a social visa (with a sponsor). The easiest way to convert the visa to a social visa is with a registered agent. The agent will sponsor you, to effectively change the status of the tourist visa to a social visa (sosial budaya). You will need to contact an agent at least 10 working days prior to the end of your initial 60 days and you may then extend 4 times (another 120 days).

Thanks Matsaleh, do you or does anyone know of a fair and reputable agent that could help in Bali, I am based in Ubud, but not a problem if i have to use one in the south. Any idea of fair fee level also?

The agent I use (and a couple of other members of this forum) is Aris from Immigration Service Bali - Expatrust Bali - HomeI'm not sure how much he charges for sponsorship and extension. You can call him on +62 81 338 790 474 or email expatrust_bali@yahoo.co.id and ask for a quote.

I use Bali Mode for my retirement visa and can recommend Didik Supriadi (the owner)......https://www.facebook.com/pages/Balimode-ubud/228855223879466 He has an office in Ubud...Jl. Hanoman#27 Ubud Gianyar 80571 Tel: 0361-970288.......balimode@hotmail.comHe also has offices in Kuta and Jakarta.Sorry...no idea of costs...I suggest you conmpare a number of agents on that. Just be sure they are proper agents and have a licence number...there are many that advertise but are only contact agents on commission.

Definetely compare costs which can range from 600,000 to 850,000 for 1st and 2nd extension and 700,000 to 950,000 for 3rd and 4th( final) extensions
